Looks like Renault CEO’s bias for Genii Capital for the sale of the Renault F1 team isn’t a clear cut predictor at all. Rival bidder Prodirve is set to but the team within the week and could be as soon as 24 hours.
Prodrive chief Dave Richards has been in the market for an F1 team for some time now. He was even among those who expressed interest in buying the Honda F1 team last season when it left the competition just before Ross Brawn took over.
Prodrive is lookling into a new motorsport venture as its former WRC participation went kaput after Subaru pulled out.
A new owner is set to give the Renault F1 team a cleaner slate after the hollocks of last season when it was involved in an inquiry regarding race fixing and boss Flavio Briatore being banned for life.
Robert Kubica is said to be retained for next season. The second driver’s spot remains open.
